Jupalli Krishna Rao Inaugurates Development Works in Asifabad, Assures Support to Podu Farmers
Asifabad: Telangana In-charge Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao participated in several development programmes in Asifabad district on Monday. He inaugurated newly constructed Gram Panchayat buildings at Komatiguda, Manikguda (Asifabad Mandal), and Wankidi Mandal. The Minister also inaugurated newly built Indiramma houses in Ada village and a Women’s Association building constructed at a cost of ₹10 lakh in Dhanora village of Kerameri Mandal.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the State Government is committed to providing better administrative services at the village level. He said Gram Panchayats should become centres of development and ensure transparent public services.
He said the government is implementing several welfare and self-employment schemes to strengthen women’s groups economically. He encouraged women to make use of these opportunities and play an important role in the development of their families and society.
The Minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing dignified housing to every eligible poor family through the Indiramma Housing Scheme.
During the visit, Podu farmers from Surdapur village in Kerameri Mandal submitted a representation to the Minister, alleging that forest officials were creating difficulties over lands cultivated by their families for decades.

Responding to the issue, Jupalli Krishna Rao directed officials not to harass farmers cultivating Podu lands that have been under cultivation since before 2005. At the same time, he made it clear that no new forest land should be occupied for cultivation, as Podu land issues are governed by Central laws.
The Minister discussed the concerns of non-tribal farmers with officials and instructed them to take appropriate steps to ensure justice. He assured the farmers that a special review meeting would be held with district and forest officials to examine the issue and find a lawful and farmer-friendly solution.

District officials, public representatives, local leaders, women’s self-help group members, farmers, and villagers attended the programmes.
