Hyderabad, June 19 Telangana Voice

In a major crackdown against food adulteration and unsafe food practices, the H-FAST (Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team), along with Food Safety Officers, conducted a raid on an illegally operated fast food warehouse at New Lad Bazaar, Panch Mohalla, Charminar.

Acting on credible information, officials inspected the premises of M/s Al Akbar Fast Food and Godown and found food items being prepared and stored under highly unhygienic and hazardous conditions, posing a serious threat to public health.

During the inspection, the team detected several violations, including operation without a valid FSSAI license, use of prohibited artificial food colours such as MSK Lion Green and Raspberry Red, repeated use of deteriorated cooking oil, absence of water quality certification, lack of quality control measures, and poor sanitation with no pest control system in place.

Authorities seized approximately 110 kilograms of prepared fried chicken, six tins of cooking oil (15 litres each), and artificial chemical food colouring substances. Two persons allegedly involved in the illegal operation were taken into custody.

Officials warned that consumption of such contaminated food could lead to food poisoning, vomiting, diarrhoea, gastrointestinal infections, allergies, toxic reactions, and long-term health complications affecting the liver and overall well-being.

A case has been registered at Hussainialam Police Station under relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, along with other applicable laws. The accused and seized materials have been handed over to the Station House Officer for further investigation and legal action.

Hyderabad City Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards food adulteration and urged citizens to purchase food only from licensed establishments, verify FSSAI registration details, avoid suspicious food products, and promptly report unsafe food practices.

For complaints regarding food safety violations, citizens may contact the toll-free helpline: 8712661212.

Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential to safeguard food safety and protect community health.
