Municipal Chairperson Bandari Anusha Satish Highlights Importance of Breastfeeding During World Breastfeeding Week in Adilabad

Municipal Chairperson Mrs. Bandari Anusha Satish participated as the chief guest in the World Breastfeeding Week programme held at the Anganwadi Centre in Bhuktapur Ward No. 45 of Adilabad town on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson created awareness among pregnant women, lactating mothers and families about the importance of breastfeeding, child nutrition and the welfare schemes being implemented by the government for mothers and children.

She said that breast milk is the most complete and natural food for a newborn and stressed that breastfeeding should begin within the first hour after birth. She advised mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, stating that it strengthens a child’s immunity and supports healthy physical and mental development.

Mrs. Anusha Satish also urged beneficiaries to make full use of the nutritious food being supplied through Anganwadi centres by the Telangana Government, including eggs, milk, fortified nutritional supplements, multivitamin-enriched nutrition powder and other food items. She said these supplements play a vital role in preventing anaemia, promoting healthy growth and ensuring a better future for children.

She appealed to every mother to give top priority to her child’s health, follow the advice of doctors and Anganwadi staff, and take full advantage of the government’s maternal and child welfare programmes.
