Congress Government Completely Deceiving Farmers: Former Minister Jogu Ramanna
Adilabad, June 19/2026 Telangana Voice
Ex Minister and senior BRS leader Jogu Ramanna alleged that the Congress government is completely deceiving farmers by failing to fulfill the promises made before the elections. He stated that BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and senior leader T. Harish Rao would soon visit Adilabad district to interact with farmers and address their concerns.
Addressing a press conference at the BRS party office, Ramanna said the party would explain to farmers how both the Central and State governments have failed them and would assure them that the BRS stands firmly by their side during this difficult period.
He strongly condemned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks regarding crop procurement, stating that the Congress party had promised to purchase every crop cultivated by farmers but is now backing away from that commitment. According to him, this amounts to a betrayal of the farming community.

Ramanna recalled that in 2021, when Revanth Reddy was in the opposition, he had claimed that allocating ₹10,000 crore would resolve farmers’ problems. However, he said the Chief Minister is now unable to provide relief to farmers despite being in power. Encouraging farmers to cultivate multiple crops while simultaneously refusing to procure them has severely damaged farmers’ confidence, he added.

The former minister also highlighted the issue of urea availability, noting that the BRS had repeatedly protested against the app-based system for fertilizer distribution. He said that during the previous BRS government, adequate measures were taken to ensure farmers did not face difficulties in obtaining fertilizers. He demanded that the government establish special counters at Rythu Vedikas through AEO clusters to ensure smooth urea distribution.
Ramanna accused both the Central and State governments of misleading farmers. He alleged that while the Central Government continues to increase fertilizer prices despite announcing support measures, the State Government has effectively washed its hands of crop procurement responsibilities.

He further criticized local MPs and MLAs for failing to raise farmers’ issues with the respective governments. Instead of focusing on agricultural concerns, they are allegedly concentrating on projects that generate commissions, he claimed.
Referring to development projects, Ramanna said Adilabad had already been identified as a strategically central location in the country for an airport project. He advised local legislators to focus on resolving farmers’ problems rather than creating publicity around airports and industrial parks. He also criticized BJP representatives for allegedly forgetting their promise to provide legal guarantees for the procurement of every crop.
The former minister accused the government of reneging on its promise to provide bonuses for all crops, noting that the benefit was eventually limited only to fine varieties of paddy. He alleged that Congress legislators have failed to effectively question the State Government regarding farmers’ issues and demanded the immediate release of Rythu Bandhu assistance for the Kharif season.
Ramanna described it as unfortunate that farmers who suffered crop losses due to recent rains have not yet received even basic financial support under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He also condemned the delay in payments to farmers who had sold their sorghum (jowar) produce, warning that the BRS would intensify its agitation if farmers’ grievances were not addressed.
Former Market Committee Chairman Yasam Narsing Rao, Gandrath Ramesh, Sevva Jagadish, Parameshwar, Kumra Raju, Battu Satish, Suryakanth, Anil Ashok, Dayanand, and several other party leaders were present at the meeting.
