Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed all government departments to remain on high alert during the monsoon season and ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience due to heavy rains. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials whose negligence leads to public hardship.

The Chief Minister issued the directions while chairing a high-level review meeting on monsoon preparedness at Bodhi Pavilion, MCRHRD, Hyderabad. Rajya Sabha Member V. Narendra Reddy, Government Advisor Sudarshan Reddy, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, DGP C.V. Anand, and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.

Expressing displeasure over the disruption caused by heavy rains on June 9, particularly in Hyderabad and Cyberabad areas, Revanth Reddy questioned the preparedness of municipal, police, and traffic authorities despite advance weather warnings. He observed that poor coordination among departments had aggravated traffic congestion and public inconvenience.

The Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary and DGP to analyze the lapses and initiate action against responsible officials. He emphasized that officers from municipal administration, police, traffic, irrigation, HYDRAA, and other emergency services must remain in the field during rainfall events.

Stressing the need for accountability, Revanth Reddy said even senior officials, including Police Commissioners, should be present on the roads whenever necessary. He also directed the DGP to immediately fill vacancies in the Traffic Department to strengthen rain-related response mechanisms.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over frequent power disruptions caused by falling trees during storms and instructed authorities to restore electricity supply without delay. He also directed officials to deploy mobile transformers wherever required.

Reviewing irrigation preparedness, Revanth Reddy ordered strict adherence to project operation manuals and instructed engineers to remain stationed at project sites throughout the rainy season. He warned of stringent action against officials leaving project locations without prior approval.

The Chief Minister further directed the Finance Department to immediately release funds required for the repair and maintenance of irrigation project gates and related infrastructure.

With the agricultural season underway, Revanth Reddy instructed Agriculture Department officials to ensure adequate availability of seeds and urea. He called for effective distribution through Rythu Vedikas and directed officials to educate farmers on recommended seed varieties.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of preventing drinking water contamination during the rainy season. Water quality testing should be conducted regularly, and precautionary measures must be taken to avoid outbreaks of water-borne diseases.

Directing the Health Department to remain fully prepared for seasonal illnesses, he ordered adequate stocks of medicines and enhanced sanitation measures in vulnerable areas.

Revanth Reddy instructed Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan to coordinate continuously with Municipal Administration, Water Board, and Health Department officials. He also directed the DGP to conduct regular reviews involving Police, Traffic, Fire Services, HYDRAA, and Disaster Management agencies to ensure an effective and coordinated response throughout the monsoon season.

The Chief Minister reiterated that public safety remains the government’s top priority and warned that negligence resulting in avoidable hardships would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
