Adilabad, June 19/2026 Telangana Voice
In a significant development for the people of Adilabad district, the Telangana Government has officially issued a Government Order (G.O.) renaming the prestigious Chanaka-Korata Barrage as “Chilukuri Ramachandra Reddy Barrage” in honor of former Minister and senior Congress leader late Sri Chilukuri Ramachandra Reddy.
The decision fulfills a long-standing demand of the people of Adilabad and a cherished aspiration of Congress workers. Adilabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Dr. Naresh Jadhav played a key role in pursuing the proposal. In January 2026, he personally met Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and submitted a representation seeking the naming of the barrage after the late leader in recognition of his immense contributions to the district’s development.

The State Government positively considered the request and approved the proposal. Earlier, during a public meeting held in Nirmal district, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had publicly announced that the Chanaka-Korata Barrage would be named after late Chilukuri Ramachandra Reddy. Honoring that commitment, the government has now formally issued the G.O.

Expressing happiness over the development, Dr. Naresh Jadhav thanked the Telangana Government for officially naming the project as “Chilukuri Ramachandra Reddy Barrage.” On behalf of the people of Adilabad district, Congress party workers, and admirers of the late leader, he conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Adilabad District In-charge Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

Dr. Jadhav stated that the naming of the barrage after late Chilukuri Ramachandra Reddy is a fitting tribute to a leader who dedicated his life to the development and welfare of Adilabad district. The decision has been widely welcomed by the public and Congress cadres, who described it as a historic recognition of his legacy and service.
